Sailing in the Optimist

The Optimist is worldwide the boat for the first encounter with the sailing sport but also has the largest competition class that exists in sailing. Sailing school de Kaag has equipped the boats with various modifications making it even easier to learn to sail.
From the age of 6 you can learn to sail with us in the Optimist. The Optimist is the safest and most fun of all small dinghies. These 1-person boats sail excellently and cannot sink. Together with the guide you prepare your boat for departure. Off to the Optimist Island! This floating "island" was purchased especially for the kids and is located in a sheltered spot in the middle of the Eijmerspoel on the Kagerplassen.
We developed, as the only sailing school in the Netherlands, in cooperation with Optiparts, special sails and sheets for every type of weather. Of course we do this to optimize safety and to give you a good feeling about the lessons you take with us. Our booms are equipped with bumpers and you always wear a life jacket. What a good idea!
You practice on your own, but you are in a group with people of your own age. Of course this group will be guided by our experienced, CWO certified instructors. We sail on a quiet part of the Kagerplassen, the Eijmerspoel, directly opposite the accommodation. After a week you can sail yourself and get your CWO diploma. Of course you will also learn some theory. And... don't forget your good humour, because an optimist is best! If you like the optimist... book now! We offer various programmes. From a morning or afternoon to a whole week. Everything is possible.
Program
The sailing hours are from 09.30 till 17.00 with of course a break to have a nice lunch and chill at the Watersports Academy. Also in the evening there is enough to do. If the weather is nice you can jump from the Blob, suppolo or just chill at the campfire. This way you can meet your (new) friends! On Friday we will all enjoy the barbecue and the closing party. Or what about an exotic beach party?
Sleeping at home in your own bed? That's no problem for our younger guests! With us you can also external participate in the sailing camp. We pick you up every morning between 09.00 and 09.15 at the ferry. At noon you can join us for lunch at the sailing school and between 17.30 and 17.45 your parents can pick you up again at the ferry or if you like at 20.30 after the evening program. (external +). On Friday evening we close the week with a delicious barbecue in the garden followed by the bonte evening and a disco party!
